Lori Mellendick’s designs are inspired by nature. It’s everyday objects that she chooses to use as subject in her work. Themes such as gardens, architecture, and landscapes are among her favorites to depict on tiles. Most of the tiles she creates are made to order for a special customer but the images are always her own interpretations. That is what separates Five Sisters as a fine art partnership. Lori Mellendick says that transitioning from landscape painting to tile painting was easy as her own group of family and friends developed. She began painting tiles as gifts for her loved ones and soon she found herself designing tiles for many others. The process of creating a tile begins with an order from you. Lori then uses ceramic tiles as a surface to hand paint your desired theme or celebration. Borders are often used to pull the composition together. Text can be used to signify an event, name or family celebration. You may choose a theme from the online catalog but remember that every tile has differences to keep the originality which is what makes your Five Sisters tile distinct from all others.
